Broken Rhythm Kickboxing Studio is more than just a state-of-the art gym, it’s an institution where everyone is welcome to experience and learn the art of Muay Thai. Knowledgeable and Experienced Instructors make sure students go through the proper curriculum and level requirements. The art of Muay Thai has many levels and each one requires the guidance of teachers who specialize in all aspects of Muay Thai. Such teachers are seldom found because Muay Thai trained exclusively for competition does not require all the comprehensive basics, footwork, defense, and techniques to be effective in the ring. Ring fights take into account the judge’s way of scoring, the referee’s biases, the audience’s preferences as well as the rules and regulations of the sport. Aside from fighting experience, our instructors have full knowledge of Muay Thai as a self-defense and Martial Arts system. Therefore, we teach our students how to apply Muay Thai skills and principles into their daily lives.
Clean, sanitized and odor-free training area lessens distractions that come from dirty establishments. A professional Martial Arts school should be pristine in order to avoid disease and infections. We always clean our facility and equipment because, to us, an exceptionally clean training environment is a reflection of the school itself.
Full size ring is your place to get comfortable under pressure. It also eliminates bad habits such as running away from your opponent, not being able to continue sparring when someone gets to close to walls, getting rid of stage fright, and not being able to get into the ‘zone’ due to distractions outside the ring. A full size ring allows practitioners enough space to execute their moves without moving outside the ropes, forcing them to infight if need be without solely focusing on any specific range.
Muay Thai bags are used to develop power, strength, and explosiveness. It increases power through repetitive striking. It increases strength through proper contact and clinching. And it increases explosiveness through specific sets that emphasize the use of long bags. Combinations in Muay Thai must be practiced on long bags because it allows a full range of strikes, including the signature leg kicks that only Muay Thai fighters can deliver.
Boxing bags focus on upper body proficiency. This is where striking with straight, round, overhand, hammer, knuckle, and backhand punches are practiced and mastered. Other upper body striking skills such as various elbows as well as open palm strikes are also trained with the boxing bags. Boxers continually hit the bags to work on their punching skills. Muay Thai fighters also use boxing bags in a similar fashion, adding elbows, knees, and kicks to complete their training.
Speed, double-end, and reflex bags elevate the boxing skills to yet another level of proficiency. To compliment the use of both boxing and long bags, these specialized bags helps develop speed, accuracy, and agility. It also helps in training what we call ’staggered or broken rhythm’, which is a skill in itself. All our equipment are used independently and in conjunction with each other.
Martial Art mats are used for the practice of Muay Thai basics, forms, pads, drills, including the skills of grabbing, breaking, throwing, sitting and rolling in the advanced levels. Using only premium 1.5″ mats, students will feel comfortable enough to do all their stand-up exercises as well as not worrying about falling on the mats.
Muay Thai equipment is important in learning specific striking moves with time-tested combinations. The effectiveness of Muay Thai as a striking art is due to the repetition of certain punches, kicks, knees and elbows so that it can be applied in virtually any scenario, including striking behind, on the ground, and while in the air. All our major equipment are brand new and made from quality materials.
Serato Scratch Live powers our music to keep students pumped up and motivated for more. Music separates us from the competition because we don’t simply play generic and popular soundtracks. We also have the ability to keep it live by playing what we want when we want to. Featuring QSC speakers, turntables and a full DJ booth, our sound system is unlike any other typical, low end equipment found in most gyms and studios.
